Project Highlights
Rehabilitation of a 31 km electrical network. High voltage underground 3 x 220 KV cables link 5 main switchyards feeding the Beirut metropolitan area.
Special work procedures and equipment were devised for each substation in order to guide the cables through tunnels, shafts and cable trays all the way to transformers. Cable drums, ramps and guiding accessories were all locally manufactured. Diameter of each cable was 12 cm pulled in approximately 500 meters sections. 14 x 3 meters jointing chambers were constructed at end of each section.
Scope of Work
Excavation, construction of road crossing, transitions, jointing bays for HV cables, cable pulling in concrete gutters and galleries, jointing assistance at bays, with all relative manpower and equipment logistics, in heavily populated areas.
